SERIES PREMIERE: Chelsea Handler’s new Netflix documentary series, Chelsea Does, drops today: all four episodes, each devoted to a separate topic: marriage, racism, drugs, and technology. If you’re a fan of Chelsea Lately, you know what to expect. If not, expect some rather freewheeling conversations, especially on this uncensored streaming platform.

Just a reminder: If you’re looking for Sesame Street, you can find new episodes here, and, for a while, here only: Saturday mornings on HBO. Today’s show is brought to you by the letter “P” – for Premium, as in cable, or Privileged, as in viewership.

Alan Rickman, who died last week at age 69, was most famous for playing villains – and among those villains, most famous of all for opposing Bruce Willis in the first Die Hard and for playing Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films. But here’s another example, where he plays an excellent villain in a less than excellent movie: 1991’s Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, in which he plays the Sheriff of Nottingham to Kevin Costner’s Robin.

Whitney Cummings, after starring in one broadcast network series (NBC’s Whitney) and creating another (CBS’s 2 Broke Girls), gets her first HBO special. Given the quality level of her other two vehicles, let’s see what she does with this one. Hopefully, a bit more…

One of my two wishes for this show, which is hosted by former UFC bantamweight champion Rhonda Rousey, is that Tina Fey will show up to play Sarah Palin in a spoof of the real Palin’s endorsement this week of Donald Trump. My second wish is that, after the snowstorm, I’ll still have power to be able to watch it. Musical guest: Selena Gomez.

This is looking like a bad idea at best, particularly after a thoroughly ridiculous, serio-comic third episode squanders any carryover suspense let alone a reason to exist anew...

SERIES PREMIERE: David Tennant did something quite unusual in the history of TV series adapted from overseas with new American remakes: He starred in both the original Broadchurch and the USA remake’s Gracepoint, playing the same character but with different accents. Well, starting today on Amazon, Ben Chaplin stars in this new Americanized (or Amazonized) version of Mad Dogs, after starring in the original British series of the same name. But this time, he’s decided to play a comple

The National Lampoon is a magazine, spawned from alumni of the Harvard Lampoon, that deserves to be remembered and celebrated, as it is in this new documentary. Though it contributed so much more to the history of humor, it deserves that honor on the basis of one outrageous cover illustration and headline alone – the one with a gun pointed to the head of a worried-looking canine, with the headline, “If You Don’t Buy This Magazine, We’ll Kill This Dog.” The National

This 2015 Avengers movie, the latest in the Marvel Comics franchise on the big screen, is a big movie in every aspect – big budget, big running time (two hours, 22 minutes), big box-office (almost half a billion dollars in the U.S. alone), and a big, big cast of superheroes. Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Black Widow, the Hulk, Hawkeye – they’re all here, up against a Big Bad that sounds a lot like James Spader. Because he provides the voice of Ultron, the latest threat t
