What better way to spend Halloween night than to wallow in some vintage Vincent Price horror films? (Answer: There are few better ways. The Price is right – and in terms of holiday wallowing, consider it Walloween.) The evening begins at 8 p.m. ET with 1953’s House of Wax, continues at 9:45 p.m. ET with 1961’s The Pit and the Pendulum, and keeps going with 1964’s The Masque of the Red Death (11:15 p.m. ET) and 1959’s House on Haunted Hill (1 a.m. ET). And saving the

Halloween is a fitting night to check in with a series called American Horror Story – even if this current season, Apocalypse, is apocryphal, at least in a biblical sense. Especially since one of this year’s villains has just outed himself as the Antichrist. (Which reminds me of that old, irreverent Biff Rose ditty, “Uncle Jesus and Antichrist.” But I digress…

One of the most anticipated elements of the original Roseanne series was the annual Halloween episode, in which the Conner family costumes and antics got more and more inventive over the years. In tonight’s episode, the first Halloween outing for the show’s spinoff sequel series, the tradition continues. Matthew Broderick guest stars, and shows up in costume. But if Roseanne herself is part of this show, it will be more of a haunting.

First, a confession. I’m an avid, but not obsessive, user of both Facebook and Twitter. I see the good in social media, and the bad, too. I’m not naive...

Part 1 of 2. Is Facebook a media platform subject to government scrutiny and oversight, or an independent company bringing people together? More and more – and, in today’s news cycles, almost every week – the flaws of this social media become more obvious, and dangerous, even as its promise becomes more tantalizing. This new two-part study concludes tomorrow night. For a full review, see Alex Strachan's TV That Matters.  Check local listings.

The official opening night for the Broadway musical Wicked was Oct. 30, 2003 – the night before Halloween, and 15 years ago tomorrow night. The musical is still running, but its original leads left long ago. When it opened, Kristin Chenoweth played Glinda, Idina Menzel played Elphaba, and Joel Grey played the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. They and others appear in this retrospective salute to the musical, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire and with music and lyrics by Godspell creator Stephen

Lest anyone think Smithsonian’s new Lost Tapes special on the impeachment of President Bill Clinton is just an exercise in uncomfortable nostalgia, the documentary opens with an old news clip of Clinton at a podium saying he will “make America great again.”...
