The Kickoff Curse has done it again. Each fall, it targets the first new series to premiere each fall from a broadcast network, and predicts that the show in question will not live to see a sophomore season. Last year, the Curse -- which I invented, by the way, decades ago -- fingered CW's Melrose Place for extinction. And hey: Look what show isn't back for 2010...

I pretty much wrote off HBO's Entourage two seasons ago, but this summer it has, without warning, become the television equivalent of a seductively trashy beach read. For the first time in the history of this series about a movie star of marginal talent and his opportunistic buddies, its characters are learning that there are actual consequences for bad behavior, and the results are unexpectedly entertaining...

Only those whose lives are caught up in the thick web of conspiracies would surmise that Eureka is on the SyFy channel because its casting is too avant garde for network TV. Count me among those spiders. Well, maybe I'm not committed to the true belief that a conspiracy exists, but the question does arise: Why can't network TV dramas be bolder in defying convention?...

Bootys are shaken -- after first being stirred -- on The CW's new Hellcats. That may be reason enough for many to watch this first new fall series out of the chute. Trailing Wednesday's season premiere of America's Next Top Model at 9 p.m. ET, it's an abs 'n' ass answer to Fox's Glee...

Even though the 2010 Fall TV season doesn't begin officially for two more weeks, the first new show from the broadcast networks surfaces tomorrow night. And, to mark the occasion, so will TV WORTH WATCHING's annual Fall Preview Guide...

Burp. Goodness! Pardon me. Did Thanksgiving come early? Even Canadian T-day? The feast has been on since Thursday night, and college football fans across the land have been stuffing themselves with a cable TV cornucopia of football from colleges large and small, prominent and obscure (how else can Elon be described?)...

NBC is premiering The Event this month -- specifically, Sept. 20 at 9 p.m. ET. Gauging from the pilot, it promises to be the next series to cryptically bind seemingly unrelated threads into a larger conspiracy, where we won't know who is on what side, or who is exactly doing what to whom, for quite a while...

In our instantaneous age, it's hard to imagine people getting their latest look at world news in movie theaters many days or even weeks later. But that was the norm during Hollywood's studio heyday, from the 1920s into the '50s. Turner Classic Movies offers a great taste of old-time newsreels this weekend, saluting The March of Time for four hours (Sunday 8 p.m.-midnight ET).
