Half of the tournament’s Sweet 16 teams to battle tonight – and the Sweet 8 playing tonight, on CBS and TBS, include one persistent Cinderella team (La Salle, ranked No. 13) and one top-ranked team (Indiana). The action starts at 7 p.m. ET on CBS, with Marquette playing Florida’s Miami. Arizona and Ohio State do battle at 7:30 p.m. ET on TBS, then No. 1 Indiana takes on No. 4 Syracuse at 9:45 p.m. ET on CBS. Finally, back on TBS at 10:15 p.m. ET, it’s La Salle vs. No. 9 s

Another singer is eliminated tonight – in another “results episode” hour that, as always, has more padding than a mattress factory. The judges, in this show, have had more time to formulate their opinions, but this year especially, that doesn’t always seem to help.

Alexandra Pelosi’s latest documentary for HBO is this very brief, very sympathetic biographical study of former New Jersey governor Jim McGreevey. It’s not her first documentary that revolves around religion, homosexuality, scandal and redemption – she’s already done a profile of disgraced evangelist Ted Haggard. But  – but this one plays out against the backdrop of Washington, DC, which Pelosi knows very well.

This 1991 miniseries is shown in one prime-time clump tonight, and it’s worth it for its haunting lead performances by Sheryl Lee (pictured), Clancy Brown and Moira Kelly. It’s based on a true story, but goes for psychological suspense more than continual confrontation – and it works.

SEASON FINALE: This funny series bows out for the year with a double feature of new episodes. In the first, Burt (Garret Dillahunt) embraces Judaism. In the second, Maw Maw (Cloris Leachman) meets her long-absent, 104-year-old mother. I know she’s also played by Leachman (pictured, as Maw Maw's ma) – but what I don’t know is whether she’s named Maw Maw Maw.

With its two new judges this week, NBC's The Voice came back with a vengeance - higher ratings, and enough instant chemistry to make the blind audition rounds as much fun as before. Meanwhile, on American Idol, the lack of chemistry among the judges, old and new, has torpedoed this show's momentum, and the show itself, on a weekly basis. This year, Idol has finalist Candice Glover and a few other sparkling talents - but that's it.

This 2001 Coen brothers film may not be as high-profile as some of their others, but this black-and-white grim character study is a fascinating study in tone. Billy Bob Thornton plays a guy who walks through life depressed, and with good reason. There are plenty of good reasons to watch this movie, too, starting with its supporting cast, which includes Frances McDormand, James Gandolfini, Richard Jenkins, Tony Shalhoub – and, in an early, impressive role, Scarlett Johansson.
