The vintage SNL program is in prime time. The new one is saved for later – for 11:30 p.m. ET. And tonight, after a week off, Saturday Night Live returns with guest host Jim Carrey, who for years spread his wings, and demonstrated his talents, on a rival sketch-comedy series, Fox’s In Living Color. Tonight’s musical guest: Iggy Azalea.

On Monday (Oct. 20), TVWW founder and editor David Bianculli moderated the reunion of the “kids” from The Wonder Years (1988-’93) at the 92 St. Y in New York. These particular actors -- Fred Savage, Danica McKellar, and Josh Saviano -- are exceptional in more ways than one...

Game 1 of the San Francisco Giants vs. Kansas City Royals World Series made it look like this year’s Fall Classic might be a blowout, with the Giants dominating like – well, like Giants. But Game 2, two-thirds of the way through a much more competitive contest, saw the Royals explode with a scoring jag that evened the series, and set the stage for tonight’s Game 3. Tonight the scene shifts to San Francisco, where Kansas City will have to play by the Giants’ rules.

It’s interesting, if not exactly ironic, that Tony Bennett is appearing directly opposite Game 3 of the World Series tonight. It means that the singer whose most famous hit is “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” will be singing his heart out while the Giants play in San Francisco. But he’s singing, this time, with Lady Gaga, in a performance recorded at Lincoln Center in July. This is no quickly improvised jazz vocal set: The sets and lighting are by the amazing Robert Wil

SEASON PREMIERE: This is a warning, not a recommendation. The high entertainment values of Fox’s Gotham and the CW’s The Flash might lead you to conclude that any new comic-book series this fall is a good bet. Not true – as Constantine will prove to you if you tune in. For a full review, see Ed Bark’s Uncle Barky’s Bytes.

Bill Maher doesn’t need any help generating quotes that turn out to be incendiary and, on social media, long-lasting. But tonight, his roster includes two guests who are specialists of the form: Mary Matalin and Cornel West.

This is the second song in this inventive series, in which the Foo Fighters visit a different city for inspiration, interviewing people about the local music scene and history, and emerging with a song. This week it’s the Beltway, and the new song is called “The Feast and the Famine.”

This season’s primary plot line has allowed series star Emily Rose to play two roles at the same time: good, sweet Audrey Parker and an evil woman who has taken over her body and, most of the time, her personality as well. That may all come to a head in tonight’s episode – but not without incident.

Ghost stories continue to be rolled out on Thursdays by TCM – and tonight’s spectacle of spectres begins with The Innocents, the 1961 psychological thriller in which Deborah Kerr stars as a governess hired to oversee two orphaned young siblings – children who appear to be taking on the personalities of the estate’s former governess and chauffeur. Every bit as creepy as it sounds. Based on the story by Henry James, with a screenplay written by, among others, John Mortimer
