This 1990 movie, based on a Stephen King story and directed by Rob Reiner, gave King another mainstream movie hit – and made a star of Kathy Bates, as the fan of a novelist (James Caan)  who ends up holding him captive after finding him in a car accident. Speaking of Grey Gardens, tonight TCM presents a special lineup in tribute to the late Albert Maysles, who, with his brother David, made a series of pioneering documentaries – three of which are shown tonight. The evening begins with 1976’s Grey Gardens, their chillingly bizarre, intimate and unforgettable portrait of the mother and daughter, relatives of Jackie Kennedy, who later were reimagined in a docudrama, played by Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore.
