Both the American and National League teams play the latest games in their respective Championship Series today. First comes the afternoon NLCS game, at 4 p.m. ET, televised by Fox, with Game 3 of the San Francisco Giants-St. Louis Cardinals series. Currently, the teams are tied at 1. Then, at 8 p.m. ET, TBS presents Game 4 of the New York Yankees-Detroit Tigers ACLS series, in which the Tigers, for tonight’s game, enjoy both the series lead and home-field advantage. The Tigers lead the series 3-0 after another tense game last night.
ABC, 9:00 p.m. ET
Where there’s smoke, there’s… smoke. Late at night, a smoke alarm awakens the family, who descend the staircase to discover that the cause of the commotion is a little piece of magic. And elsewhere in this new episode, in another household, there’s another nocturnal cause of alarm: a formerly silent source of snoring.
PBS, 9:00 p.m. ET
The popularity of all the CBS and NBC crime procedurals suggests there may be a large and welcome audience for this new episode of Nova, which takes a look at the latest science behind forensic investigations. Here’s one, for starters: 3-D fingerprints. Check local listings.
ABC, 10:00 p.m. ET
Last week’s series premiere established the setting, the premise, the protagonist, the antagonist, and the hint that this could be one of the season’s best new series. Tonight, with episode two, Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere come out swinging – but not necessarily at each other.
FX, 10:00 p.m. ET
SEASON PREMIERE: This spooky FX series begins Season 2 with a near-complete reboot, a shift to an even more atmospheric setting, and an opener that, once again, all but demands that you return for more – especially for more of returning Emmy-winner Jessica Lange, whose performance, going from supporting to leading lady this year in a newly cast role as a sinister sister, is second to nun.
