On this day in 1957, CBS presented the live musical, Cinderella, the only Rodgers and Hammerstein musical written specifically for television.
The telecast starred Julie Andrews in the title role, and co-starred Hill Street Blues' Jon Cypher as Prince Christopher, Kaye Ballard and Alice Ghostley as Cinderella's stepsisters and Edie Adams as the fairy godmother.
The musical was remade in 1965, with Lesley Ann Warren as Cinderella, and Brandy Norwood stepped into the glass slippers for a 1997 version.
