Movies On Demand, 3:00 a.m. ET
MOVIE PREMIERE: In 1989, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter starred in a sweet and goofy little sci-fi comedy, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventures, relying on a time machine, and the guidance of a celestial guru played by George Carlin, to interact with such historic figures as Socrates, Abe Lincoln, Beethoven and Freud. A cartoon series and one live-action sequel, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, followed with a couple of years – but then the franchise went dormant. But like cicadas and locusts, they’ve found a way to resurface after a long period of silence. So today, 31 years after the original movie, Reeves and Winter, and their rad characters, are back. With luck, this next-generation adventure – written by original franchise writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, and directed by Dean Parisot, who did such a great job as director of Galaxy Quest – will be, well, excellent!
Epix, 8:00 p.m. ET
