Amazon has released their annual crop of new pilots and one, The Legend of Master Legend starring John Hawkes (Deadwood, Winter’s Bone) should be a sure-fire audience favorite in the Amazon poll which determines which shows get green-lit to full series. A Las Vegas self-storage unit is the character’s secret lair and he’s human, with no superpowers at all, and dedicated to helping the homeless and fighting the occasional street crook while trying to get back with his ex-wife. Turn's out the show is based on the self-styled real-life superhero in Orlando, Florida. (His identity is kept secret of course, in this 2088 Rolling Stone article, and apparently there are similar real-life costumed crime-fighters in many cities.) In this clip by filmmaker Alex O’Keefe you get the sense that fame might be the original Master Legend’s real game, but he seems to be on the up and up.
