Those of us who were impressed with how John Oliver held the reins of The Daily Show over the summer knew it was coming. The Emmy-award winning comedian will be hosting his own show on HBO next year. On the last new show of 2013, Jon Stewart found a way to bid Oliver a fitting adieu. Oliver thought he was stepping into a skit on the British hacking scandal. Instead he found himself in the middle of a retrospective and tribute to his seven and a half years on the show. It was funny, touching and left Oliver both laughing and in tears. –Monique Nazareth
