Boardwalk Empire has 7 Emmys already, a week before this year's Primetime Emmy Awards are handed out on Fox Sept. 18.
How so? Saturday night's Creative Arts Emmys ceremony -- the annual precursor honoring behind-the-camera work in "crafts" categories like casting, costuming and sound.
The first season of Boardwalk (Season 2 starts on HBO Sept. 25) won for drama series art direction, casting, cinematography, makeup, picture editing, sound editing and special visual effects.
Coming in behind HBO's Prohibition gangster saga as multiple-awards winners were the kinds of shows not often seen at TV's main soiree -- Discovery's Deadliest Catch and History's Gettysburg, with 4 Emmys each.
Deadliest Catch trophies were for reality cinematography, picture editing and sound mixing, plus outstanding reality program, while Gettysburg from Ridley and Tony Scott won for outstanding nonfiction special, costumes, sound editing and special visual effects.
Also getting Emmy love: the made-for-History yet aired-by-Reelz Channel miniseries The Kennedys, taking home 3 in movie/miniseries categories (hairstyling, makeup, sound mixing).
And that's handy, isn't it? Because the Creative Arts Emmy Awards airs tape-delayed on Reelz this Saturday (Sept. 17) at 8-10 p.m. ET/PT.
