All Rust, All Rust, All Rust
July 12, 2014  | By Eric Gould

There are more than a few parodies out there of True Detective and Matthew McConaughey's portrayal of detective and entranced atheist Rust Cohle. But this one, done by comic Jon Rudnitsky before this year's Oscars and amped up in a bad wig and mustache, takes a page out of the series plot, which followed Cohle and partner Marty Hart (fellow Emmy nominee Woody Harrelson) almost two decades back into their investigation of a serial killer. Here, two detectives likewise look back into McConaughey's career of formulaic rom-coms -- that somehow lead to his current year of artistic success. The HBO series got 12 Emmy nominations this week, and we're inching out on a limb here and predicting he'll have a matching Emmy to go along with his Oscar win in March for his role in Dallas Buyers Club. -- Eric Gould
