As TV, White House Correspondents' Dinner Gets an A... And a D, and Other Grades in Between
April 27, 2015  | By David Bianculli  | 7 comments

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday night, hosted by Cecily Strong of Saturday Night Live, earned an A for democracy, a D as television, and other grades as well…

It was an affair that started late, included one unannounced guest star, and provided at least a handful of solid zingers from both the evening’s guest speaker Strong and her even stronger opening act, President Barack Obama.

I can't imagine why anyone would watch it other than the next day via YouTube, where only the President and hosting comedian need be endured.

Well said. And as someone who DVR'd it, then fast forwarded thru 5 hours of other people socializing to get about 45 minutes of average entertainment, I can confidently say the best way to watch this event is via highlight clips on the Sunday morning news.
