Many of the documentaries and TV news pieces about elephants these days are horrifying, grisly stories about ivory poachers, who kill these giant animals just for the value of their tusks. This documentary, Soul of the Elephant, goes another route, focusing on what may be one of the only spots left on the planet where elephants can, and do, die of old age. And then it asks us to imagine, and in part experience, the life and life span of those animals. For a full story, and interview with the naturalists, see Alex Strachan’s TV That Matters.
