MASTERPIECE CLASSIC: "DOWNTON ABBEY"
January 11, 2015  | By David Bianculli  | 2 comments

PBS, 9:00 p.m. ET

Tonight’s episode is a really good one, with various subplots percolating, including a resurfacing of the secret involving Bates, and new complications regarding the secret offspring of… well, just watch. And tonight, there’s some very funny business involving the possible introduction of a brand new visitor to Downton Abbey: the wireless radio. Check local listings.

Sorry...I meant Mr. Carson, not Mr. Branson...

Something's not right. Branson was over-nasty in Episode 2, Season 5, much more than usual. Why? He protests too much even when he tries to be nice to Mrs. Hughes. Let's get poor Daisy up and running, in the math department sooner than later. More of Molesley please. He's shown so much vulnerability and warmth and sadness and self-consciousness AND self-righteous (re: Baxter's past), yet because he tries so hard, we are on his side.
