IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN
October 31, 2012  | By David Bianculli  | 1 comment

ABC, 8:00 p.m. ET

How nice. On Halloween night proper, ABC presents the best Halloween special ever made: The 1966 Peanuts special, a follow-up to the even more brilliant A Charlie Brown Christmas, that once again relies upon Linus to deliver its true heart and soul. This time, Linus is the one true believer, waiting in a desolate pumpkin patch to witness, and welcome, the Great Pumpkin. And if you’ve never seen this special, with or without children around, you’re out of your gourd.

The Great Pumpkin episode has been a classic of mine for years. I’ve even managed to get some friends that work with me at [REMOVED] to tune in over the past couple of Halloweens. I plan to save tonight’s airing to my [REMOVED], so that I can re-watch it in piece and quiet after the kids go to bed. It’s nice to have a DVR that has plenty of memory to let me save everything I want to; especially this time of year, when my list of shows to watch seems to expand by quite a bit.

Hope you had a nice cold [REMOVED] and a bag of [REMOVED] while enjoying that peace and quiet on your [REMOVED] TV.
