SEASON FINALE: The news is out that next year will be the last for American Idol. That gives this penultimate Idol crowning a bit more oomph – but even with a troika of judges who get along, this series basically stayed a bit too long at the mic. And it didn’t help that this year, when it got to the Final Three, one of the most deserving of them, Jax Cole (center, flanked by surviving finalists Clark Beckham and Nick Fradiani), was sent packing.
