JULES AND JIM
July 19, 2013  | By David Bianculli

TCM, 10:00 p.m. ET

Francois Truffaut continues to be saluted this month on Fridays by TCM – and tonight’s lineup includes one of his most famous and most influential directorial efforts, Jules and Jim. This 1962 story about a romantic triangle, only two-thirds of which got top billing, starred Oskar Werner and Henri Serre as two friends in love with the same woman. The woman, Catherine, is played by the beautiful Jeanne Moreau, and the style and subject of this frank romantic film was a seminal entry in the movie movement known as the French New Wave.
