KICK-ASS
July 25, 2013  | By David Bianculli

IFC, 8:00 p.m. ET

Where does Hollywood get its ideas for movies these days? Increasingly, from comic books and graphic novels – and that was the case with this 2010 movie, a clever adaptation of the Mark Millar-John Romita Jr. comic. Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars in the title role, playing a young man who dons a superhero costume to fight injustice – and Chloe Grace Moretz shot to stardom as her own tiny avenger, a foul-mouthed toughie named Hit-Girl. Lots of fun, and, in spots, almost unexpectedly moving.
