SERIES PREMIERE: Get set for another strong series to add to your weekly viewing list. With the addition of this new Showtime series, Sunday night, on this particular evening at least, presents four programs that are likely to end up on my end-of-year 10 Best list: Breaking Bad, Homeland, The Good Wife and now Masters of Sex. That we can watch four TV shows of this caliber any one season is impressive enough – but to see them all on a single night almost seems like an embarrassment of riches. In this new series, Michael Sheen stars as the repressed but curious Dr. William Masters, and Lizzy Caplan as his confident assistant and research partner, Virginia Johnson. Sheen has been reliably great before, as in Frost/Nixon, but Caplan’s work here is revelatory. For a full review, see Ed Bark’s Uncle Barky’s Bytes.
