THE XXII OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES

You folks watch what you want. I’m heavy into curling again, even if the U.S. men’s and women’s teams, especially the men’s, have been as slippery with consistent shooting as the ice on which they compete. I’d like to see more curling competition live, and from more countries, but as always with the Olympics coverage from NBC’s family of networks, jingoistic concerns always take precedence. Exciting teams from other countries – in curling, this year, that would include Norway, Canada and host team Russia – seldom get covered even on the ancillary networks, unless they happen to be playing a U.S. team. One exception, and some advance warning: tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET, MSNBC provides taped coverage of men’s curling, with Canada facing Norway. The U.S. vs. Britain men’s curling match tomorrow, by the way, is televised live by USA Network, from 5-8 a.m. ET. Oh, and tonight? On NBC, events include gold medal finals in men’s Nordic combined, men’s speedskating, women’s downhill alpine skiing and women’s snowboarding halfpipe. For live coverage of all events, go to NBCOlympics.com.
