POWERS
March 10, 2015  | By David Bianculli

PlayStation, 12:00 a.m. ET

Here’s the latest content provider to get into the original series game – and this time, it’s a company very familiar with games. It’s PlayStation, inaugurating its original-production drama slate with a series based on a comic book named Powers. It imagines a world in which many of its citizens have some sort of superpower – and one cop, played by Sharlto Copley, whose powers, including the power of flight, have been taken from him, forcing him to try and enforce the law as someone who’s “powerless.” The real stars of this series include two of my personal favorites, Michelle Forbes (as the costumed Retro Girl) and Eddie Izzard (as the villainous Wolfe), but they don’t have much screen time in the pilot. (The season’s first three episodes premiere today on the PlayStation website, with the remaining seven shows unspooled weekly.) But even without signing up to PlayStation, you can watch the premiere episode on YouTube – and here, on Video Worth Watching.
