Ovation, 8:00 p.m. ET

SERIES PREMIERE: This new series, based on a handful of specials about specific Johnny Cash songs, now becomes a regular Ovation TV feature, beginning with a series of shows devoted to the music of Dolly Parton. It’s an unusual choice, but an interesting one – the half-hour shows presented in prime time tonight, at 8 and 8:30 p.m. ET, are devoted to the writing and recording of I Will Always Love You (which Parton wrote, long before Whitney Houston also recorded it) and 9 to 5. For a full review, see Ed Bark’s Uncle Barky’s Bytes. And to catch the five Johnny Cash specials, tune in early this afternoon, when Ovation repeats them, beginning with I Walk the Line at 1 p.m. ET. Novelty song lovers: A Boy Named Sue arrives at 2:30 p.m. ET.
