THE WALKING DEAD
February 16, 2014  | By David Bianculli  | 1 comment

AMC, 9:00 p.m. ET

Last week’s midseason premiere split its time between two groups of survivors from last season: Rick and his son Carl (Andrew Lincoln, Chandler Riggs), and Michonne (Dinai Gurira) and her replacement set of armless, led-by-ropes zombie decoys. This week, we follow some of the other survivors – who, like everyone else, is facing steep odds finding their way after barely escaping the prison.

I'm afraid this episode of Walking Dead was boring for me. I'm tired of the formula of the groups getting together and splitting up repeatedly. First at the farm, then at the Governor's city, then at the prison. Plus Carl being surprised while being cocky and leading the two zombies away was totally expected. It's a formula we've seen them play out too many times where the characters are taken down a peg while being too cocky. Plus his interaction with his father while he was emerging from the couch was predictable also. Everyone knows this series has run it's course except the people producing it who are milking it for every drop they can get.
