STAND BY ME
August 13, 2019  | By David Bianculli

Epix, 10:00 p.m. ET

The Ides of August, traditionally, are the deadest time of the entire TV year. In the ancient Roman calendar, the Ides fell in the middle of the month on March 15, May 15, July 15, and October 15 – and on other months of the year, on the 13th. So today, truly, is the Ides of August. And things are so dull tonight that the one thing worth pointing out tonight is a 1986 movie: Rob Reiner’s Stand By Me, based on the Stephen King story “The Body.” Stars include Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, and Jerry O’Connell.
