BATWOMAN
October 6, 2019  | By David Bianculli

CW, 8:00 p.m. ET

SERIES PREMIERE: This is the latest series from the so-called “Arrowverse” based on the exponentially expanding CW shows inspired by DC Comics – which, as overseen by prolific producer Greg Berlanti, now include everything from Supergirland The Flash to Arrow and Gotham. And, now this new series, which stars Ruby Rose as Kate Kane, who is Batman’s cousin, and who, in this TV version, steps up during Batman’s absence to combat crime, battle a Wonderland-inspired nemesis named Alice, and starts out wearing Batman’s hand-me-down costume. But as with Supergirl, which begins its Season 5 premiere at 9 p.m. ET, this newer CW series doesn’t have the same originality as Gotham.
