SERIES PREMIERE: If you remember the original 1985 Steven Spielberg anthology series, you might have the proper mixture of anticipation and skepticism regarding this new reboot. Yes, it has the same musical theme (by John Williams) and a similar opening title sequence, which worked so well the first time. But except for a few standout episodes, the original NBC Amazing Stories seldom featured stories that were… amazing. Apple TV+ provided only one episode for preview, and it’s okay… but you can’t judge an anthology series on one episode, any more than you can judge an eight-course meal on the appetizer.
