This 1951 musical is tonight’s selection as one of “The Essentials,” as chosen by guest co-host Brad Bird – whose taste, this season, has been impeccable. And tonight, there’s the amazing extended ballet ending to An American in Paris, one of the high watermarks of movie musical history. Gene Kelly stars – and in that finale, gets to embody one classic painting after another, and not only bring them to life, but bring them to dance.

FYI, I still credit you for contaminating with the bug for musicals when I saw you perform in « Anything Goes » at West High School, although we were still in 8th grade!!! I’ve always thought you would’ve been amazing as Rizzo in Grease!!! No idea why ur name popped into my head this morning, so I decided to do a google search for u.
Didn’t find u on FB, I’m there under Mimi and my last name, if u still remember what it is...

What a decadent movie; it is all color and movement! The balls are exquisite, the costumes are beyond beautiful, and the dancing is exceptional. Worth every moment. Fast forward through the ads, it is a seamless production.
