WOMEN MAKE FILM: A NEW ROAD MOVIE THROUGH CINEMA
TCM, 8:00 p.m. ET
Tonight is the third installment of this exceptional, informative documentary about female filmmakers. Three more “chapters,” or aspects of filmmaking, are covered tonight: “Conversations,” “Framing,” and “Tracking.” As examples, you’ll see tastes of such tantalizing films as Mai Zetterling’s Loving Couples from 1964, Céline Sciamma’s Tomboy from 2011, Ida Lupino’s Hitch-Hiker from 1953, and others. Then, after the documentary, TCM presents another all-nighter of movies made by women, including Sofia Coppola’s 1999 The Virgin Suicides at 12:30 a.m. ET, and the aforementioned Loving Couples (pictured) at 2:30 a.m. ET.
