Fox, 9:00 p.m. ET

SERIES PREMIERE: So far this season – and on TV, this season is only a few weeks old – only Fox seems to be making a real attempt to present a lot of new fall programming, as in the good old pre-COVID days. True, most of its prime-time offerings are unscripted competition shows, but a few new shows have slipped in. On Mondays, there’s Filthy Rich, which is okay so far – and now, on Tuesdays, there’s neXt, which is a sort of Black Mirror expanded story line without all the effective dread. Or, maybe, like a less intense DEVS. John Slattery of Mad Men stars as a tech billionaire who is experimenting with artificial intelligence – until his mutiny-minded AI begins experimenting right back. And doing to humans what monkeys did in those Planet of the Apes films. Or what other AI units did in the series Humans, or the movie Ex Machina, or… well, you get the idea.
