HAMMER HOUSE OF HORROR MARATHON
Decades, 12:00 p.m. ET
Yes, it’s another weekend marathon from Decades. And a rare one, which will be of more interest to genre fans – but, to them (and to me), a delight. From Britain’s Hammer Studios, which gave us all those Peter Cushing-Christopher Lee Dracula and other sexualized Hammer horror films of the 1950s through the 1980s, comes a 13-episode TV series from 1980: Hammer House of Horror. This is rarely shown on American TV, and with only 13 episodes in total, Decades is showing each one a couple of times to fill the weekend. So dive in: My favorites include “Rude Awakening” (2 p.m. ET), which features Lucy Gutteridge as a shape-shifting femme fatale who bewitches and bewilders Denholm Elliott, and “The Carpathian Eagle” (8 p.m. ET), which features Suzanne Danielle as a woman involved with an ancient curse. That episode, by the way, features a small role by a young man who was into his first year as a TV and film actor: Pierce Brosnan (pictured).
