MOVIE PREMIERE: This sequel to the 1996 movie The Craft returns one cast member from the original film – Fairuza Balk, the gothiest of the girls in that movie’s high-school coven clique. But it tells the story of an all-new group of girls – who, some 25 years after the original teen hex-casters, face shaming and rejection and being outcast by all manner of new dark incantations and enemies. Social media, for instance… The cast of this sequel includes one, and only one, big-name star: David Duchovny. But this film, providing a comparison to one made a quarter of a century ago, is interesting in that regard alone.
