ZOEY'S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST

It may be me. I suspect it is, at least in part. But part of the reason I’m responding so much to this second season of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is that its premise allows us glimpses into the inner thoughts and desires and motives of those around us – when, in real life, that would be an invaluable tool indeed. Also, music is entertaining and uplifting even when folded into the darkest of dramatic narratives (see The Singing Detective – please). And Jane Levy, as Zoey, is giving what me be one of the most complex leading-lady performances, melding reality and fantasy, since Calista Flockhart in Ally McBeal. Watch tonight’s episode, titled “Zoey’s Extraordinary Dreams,” and see if you agree…

I am so glad you recommended this show. I was hesitant when it first came on, but I rely on your solid recommendations and the show does not disappoint. I also loved Crazy Ex-Girlfriend which featured original songs while Zoey's pop songs are fun and so illuminating of their characters.
