LIVING HISTORY WITH ANDERSON COOPER
January 23, 2021  | By David Bianculli  | 15 comments

CNN, 11:00 p.m. ET

This new, quickly scheduled CNN special captures what journalists call the fast first draft of history – by having host Anderson Cooper talking about events of this week with historian Dorsi Kearns Goodwin and documentary filmmaker Ken Burns. She’s been in several of his films, and they all talk about the past four years as well as the past four days. “I feel like I’m exhaled,” Burns says. But there have been a lot of holding-your-breath moments in 2021 already, and living this particular stretch of history, since 2016, has not been easy. Can’t wait to hear their perspectives…

One of the most worthwhile programs in this election season. I wanted the program to continue. I felt I was in competent hands - People of experience and and thoughtfulness who provided in-depth perspectives on what is happening in our country. I hope it will be re-aired.I've emailed friends encouraging them to watch for it. I'd like to view it again. Thank you to Anderson Cooper for arranging and hosting the program.

I was searching the internet for a transcript or link. This show was the best! For those searching to see the entire show (which I greatly recommend) our cable provider, Spectrum, has an On Demand option. The show can be found under CNN Specials. It touched my very soul.

Best product of journalism I’ve seen in my lifetime: it deserves a Pulitzer. I too seek to acquire a cd of the production. Roger Sharpe, alumnus, Harvard Kennedy School; Executive Producer, documentary for 150th yr commemoration, The Boy Who Heard Lincoln at Gettysburg

I listened to this in the middle of the night in the UK, it was excellent and inspiring. I'm hoping to listen again with my husband, I hope it's available some time, somewhere. Thank you.

Excellent show. I hung on every word. You need to put this on 60 Minutes so more people can see it. Just loved it Anderson.

This program was fabulous and so informative.....thank you to everyone who helped creat this! I am also desiring to know the name of the music that was used at the end of each segment before commercials.... there were a few bars of music that I’ve heard before but can’t remember the name of the piece?

Might you know the name of the music played at the end of each segment...it was the same refrain and I think it came from a series perhaps about the Holocaust?
