A GREAT PERFORMANCES SPECIAL: "THE DAVE CLARK FIVE: GLAD ALL OVER"
March 26, 2016  | By David Bianculli  | 2 comments

PBS, 8:00 p.m. ET

I liked the Dave Clark Five when they were churning out hits in the 1960s, but I knew nothing about them, or even which side of the British Invasion they were on, other than that the lead singer of the band also was the drummer, a rarity then and since (Phil Collins aside). In this two-hour Great Performance special, you can learn all about them, and revisit their music. Which, I predict, will make you feel “Glad All Over.” Or, maybe, in “Bits and Pieces.” Check local listings

I loved the Dave Clark Five, Herman's Hermits, Peter and Gordon, Freddie and the Dreamers[ and all the British bands that we heard on AM radio in the late 60's. I guess due to time passing, none of them were around long and it was only in 2000's that I had Sirius radio in my car that I found a station with lots of them being played. Lots of memories.
