This 1968 movie was the film debut of Barbra Streisand, who won an Oscar recreating her Broadway triumph portraying legendary vaudeville and Ziegfeld Follies musical comedienne Fanny Brice. Omar Sharif co-stars as love interest Nicky Arnstein, but it’s Streisand who counts here, singing such classics as “People,” “My Man,” and “Don’t Rain on My Parade.” And look for Mrs. Strakosh – she’s played by Mae Questel, who, much earlier in her career, provided the cartoon voices of both Olive Oyl and Betty Boop.
