JERRY LEWIS’ 90th BIRTHDAY FILM MINI-MARATHON
TCM, 8:00 p.m. ET
Tonight and tomorrow, TCM celebrates Jerry Lewis’ 90th birthday by showing prime-time marathons of his films. That’s not a surprise – TCM does that sort of thing all the time. What’s surprising is that, tonight and tomorrow, Lewis himself is on hand to preside over, and comment upon, the films. Tonight focuses on some of the movies made with Dean Martin, starting at 8 p.m. ET with 1952’s The Stooge, followed at 10 ET by 1953’s The Caddy. But stay up late, or set your recorder, for the midnight movie: 1956’s less commonly known (and televised) Artists and Models, in which Martin uses Lewis’ dreams to fuel the plots of what becomes a best-selling comic strip. And no wonder, since some of those visions are played by Anita Ekberg (pictured, with Martin and Lewis), Shirley MacLaine, Eva Gabor and Dorothy Malone.
