HERE COMES MR. JORDAN
TCM, 8:00 p.m. ET
Tonight’s lineup on TCM is devoted to “Afterlife Adventures,” starting with Here Comes Mr. Jordan, a 1941 movie that was remade by Warren Beatty as Heaven Can Wait in 1978. The title role is played by Claude Rains (pictured, with Robert Montgomery playing the athlete who is separated from his body before his “time.” The title for Beatty’s remake comes from an earlier movie, from 1943 – which, conveniently, is shown at 10 p.m. ET, starring Don Ameche as a man who’s trying to talk his way into hell. And speaking of titles appropriated by others, how about tonight’s 3:30 a.m. ET movie in this “Afterlife” marathon? It’s called The Walking Dead – but in this case, it’s a 1936 movie starring Boris Karloff, as a man who comes back from the dead to seek vengeance.
