LIFE IN PIECES

SERIES PREMIERE: This new comedy wants to be, and even borrows the extended-family multiple-storyline structure of, ABC’s Modern Family. It moves into the same neighborhood, mostly because of its strong cast – James Brolin, Dianne Wiest, Thomas Sadoski, Betsy Brandt, Colin Hanks – but doesn’t connect as instantly as Modern Family did when it premiered. But it’s a show to keep sampling, which is more than can be said for most new shows this season. For my full review, listen today to NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross or visit the Fresh Air website. For the full review by TVWW's Ed Bark, read Uncle Barky's Bytes. Also, if you haven’t already, check out our special TVWW 2015 Fall Preview page, where our writers and editors offer capsule reviews and reactions to the new fall series.
