SEASON PREMIERE: There’s understandable confusion about this series, and its U.S.-made variant presented by A&E. But trust me: This French series, shown on Sundance with subtitles, is the original article, and by far the best one. Last season, The Returned was all about an isolated town bordering a man-made lake, and how long-dead people began suddenly returning to their former town and homes. Season 2 begins with the town still trying to understand, and deal with, that unsettling phenomenon – and Halloween is the perfect night for The Returned to… return.
