THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW
BBC America, 12:00 a.m. ET
SPECIAL: To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show, BBC America is presenting a Saturday midnight special: a new production of the original stage musical, The Rocky Horror Show, that spawned the movie, and all that midnight-movie interactive audience madness. Straight from its current run at London’s Playhouse Theatre, this Rocky Horror Show has relative unknowns as the stars – David Bedella in Tim Curry’s role of Frank N. Furter, for example, and Ben Forster and Haley Flaherty as Brad and Janet, played in the film by Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon. But the guest narrators will be more familiar: Richard O’Brien, who wrote the show and played Riff Raff on stage and in the film, is one of them, and others include Stephen Fry and former Baby Spice Girl Emma Bunton. So get some toast and rice, and sit back and relax. Did I say sit back? You’d better stand, the better to do the “Time Warp” again. “It’s just a jump to the left / and then a step to the right…”
