SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE: “GOODNIGHT SWEET PRINCE”
April 23, 2016  | By David Bianculli

NBC, 11:29 p.m. ET

Here’s an instant special not to miss. Saturday Night Live has replaced tonight’s scheduled repeat with a compilation of appearances by and sketches about Prince, who died Thursday at age 57. Prince first performed on SNL in 1981, and waited 25 years to perform on the show again in 2006. His final appearance was in 2014, where he performed an unbroken, three-song, eight-minute set. All that, and lots of sketches featuring “The Prince Show,” a funny faux talk show with Fred Armisen as the shy Prince, and Maya Rudolph as his co-host Beyoncé.
