Starz!, 8:00 p.m. ET

There’s an awful lot of talent in this 2014 film version, directed by Rob Marshall, of the insanely clever Stephen Sondheim musical. It’s a rather good adaptation, mostly because the songs and music are rendered faithfully, and often touchingly, by such players as Meryl Streep as the witch, Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, and James Corden (now host of The Late Late Show on CBS) and Emily Blunt as the baker and his wife.

Most folks are Starz viewers for Outlander but there are some indy movies worth looking for here and then occasionally,a film like this which you want to see simply because the music is that good. Do not miss it either here or as a rental on demand.I saw it when released for Christmas and long ago on Broadway,I can still hum some of the songs. And yes,Meryl is a good witch and Johnny Depp's cameo is blink and you missed it.
