In previous recent posts, we detailed the last-minute pulling of a musical cold open for a Doctor Who-themed installment of CBS's The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and how angry he was to have rehearsed the production number for two days, and written special lyrics to the instrumental Doctor Who theme, only to have CBS yank the bit because music rights hadn't been secured. (The original posts can be read HERE and HERE.)
We hoped then the cold open would show up somewhere on the Internet, and it has -- though for how long, given the legal questions, I'm not certain. So dive in quickly, just in case, and enjoy Ferguson's goofy yet knowing take on the nearly 50-year-old sci-fi TV phenomenon...
Watch Wavy the alligator puppet sing, "The doctor doesn't die, he just regenerates"!
Watch Ferguson sing about the show's ongoing message, which, in his view, shows the triumph of "intellect and romance over brute force and cynicism"!
All that, and beautiful dancing girls, and a lot more!...
