How great is it for us here at TVWW to have experts on board? As much as Bianculli and I hate to admit it, we are not the last word on everything TV, because "everything TV" has become too huge for even tubeheads like us to keep track of.
So we've recruited great writers who know their stuff in specific areas -- including quality-reality genre maven Ronnie Gill, whose new column on American Idol is a must-read.
Ronnie may be familiar to some of you from her longtime Idol blog I'm the One That You Want. When she decided to discontinue keeping that page constantly current, she joined us here at TVWW so she could write whenever something big enough happened to warrant it.
Which describes Fox's most recent Idol airing, with its shocking save and jawdropping melodrama.
Ronnie takes us through all of that -- but then she delves deeper, to explain how that particular episode illustrates this season's revival in the Idol franchise, and how that resurgence came to be.
Not to mention, why it was needed.
I have to admit, I'm rarely a dedicated Idol watcher until the competition is down to the final eight or so. Bad auditions are not my thing, and who can keep 24 contestants' names straight? But Ronnie's rundown on this current season now has my interest piqued, and I'm betting that after reading her informative column you'll feel the same.
Our other experts are worth reading, too, for savvy viewpoints on how the medium portrays business (David Sicilia), design (Eric Gould) and more.
Look on the left side of TVWW's home page to find our columnists' latest musings under LATEST TVWW BLOGS. (Or click CONTRIBUTORS in the orange nav bar at page-top to read those and more.) Check back often to see what they've added to the mix.
TVWW is proud to have such a rich and varied roster of writers. Stay tuned -- you should see a couple new voices coming soon.
