Larry David Chews on Charlie Rose
Larry David is about to star in his new Broadway play about – what else – family dysfunction. Called Fish in the Dark, the show has set a Broadway record for advance sales of over $15 million. David, notoriously cryptic and evasive about himself, was interviewed for 60 Minutes last weekend by Charlie Rose and gave Rose all he could handle with his usual mock outrage in the style of his Seinfeld character George Costanza while perpetually chewing his usual piece of gum. Rose's segment entitled "Who is Larry David?" had David musing whether his new Fish character, Norman Drexel, is really him or not, as with Costanza and his "Larry David" character from his HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm. David halted, "The character is similar to me…" and then smiled, "OK, it's me." –Eric Gould
