'The New Normal' is Too Unconventional for Salt Lake City
August 27, 2012  | By Eric Gould  | 1 comment

No New Normal In SLC — NBC's new sitcom, The New Normal, isn't going to be seen in Salt Lake City. NBC's Utah affiliate KSL has deleted the show from its fall schedule. The station's parent company told the Salt Lake Tribune that "the dialogue might be excessively rude and crude" and "the scenes may be too explicit or the characterizations might seem offensive." KSL passed on The Playboy Club series last year for similar reasons. –EG

Hulu.com has already streamed the first two episodes of "The New Normal". It's really not that bad, nor really that rude, crude or explicit. I can see why viewers in Salt Lake City might find the show offensive though. Is Salt Lake City's NBC affiliate station owned by the major religious oraganizion that is so prominent there? If so, then their choice to delete this show from the Fall lineup makes perfect sense.
