New Web Fare: Electric City
July 21, 2012  | By Eric Gould  | 1 comment

Electric City — This week both Tom Hanks and Jerry Seinfeld introduced original content for the web. Seinfeld's clever Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee has the familiar show-about-nothing feel of Seinfeld. Oscar-winner Tom Hanks, however, went in a completely new direction for his web venture, Electric City. The animated noir thriller, produced in 20, 5ish-minute episodes, envisions a post-apocalyptic, low-tech future where electricity is a precious commodity and no one is quite who they seem. Electric City, the first original content offered by Yahoo!, also provides an interactive interface that incorporates Twitter feeds, maps and running character bios. There's a mobile version as well, since we're all watching TV on our phones now, along with a related game app. The show is voiced by Hanks, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Holland Taylor, Chris Parnell and others. Here's the first episode of the series. You can find the rest on Electric City's website. –EG

I was unable to understand the concept of this page, is this some type of show or a movie? I was searching about renewable engergy sources like solar panel off grid living for beginners or a hybrid system. Is the main characted Tom Hanks, I a huge fans and basically seen every movie and series that he have starred.

om Hanks and Jerry Seinfeld are both pushing the boundaries of web entertainment in their own unique ways. While Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” keeps the classic charm of his show, Hanks’ “Electric City” is a bold departure into the world of animated noir.
