Olympic Fail
August 14, 2016  | By Eric Gould

SNL has a long history of sports spoofs and this one from Andy Samberg was a javelin aimed at the then-upcoming 2008 Summer Olympics. These 3022 games (the “Space Olympics”) have all the standard problems of the regular games, complete with bad planning and incomplete facilities, but now with events like Space Luge and Space Swords. And this time it's all compounded by the genius idea of producing it on the planet Zargon, with no atmosphere. Samberg (with Michael Phelps along) envisions the galactic catastrophe despite the presenter’s undying faith in the Olympic spirit. —Eric Gould
